Managing human resources is critical to the long-term health of any organization. In this course, students will gain an understanding of the human resources function in an organization through an examination of workforce and employment issues, including compensation and performance appraisal systems, hiring and training processes, equal employment opportunities, job design and analysis, and the role of grievance processes.

- Identify strategic issues in Human Resource Management in contemporary organizations such as organizational performance, change, diversity, ethics, social justice, and globalization.
- Describe the strategic functions of Human Resource Management such as HR planning, recruitment, training, reward, performance management, and workplace relations.
- Develop you own philosophy regarding leadership/management roles and responsibilities regarding human resource functions in organizations.
- Evaluate HR practices in terms of their compliance with legal or ethical requirements and their contribution to organizational performance.
